In
2004 The Marché de France was pleased
to announce that they would be bringing a full scale,
23 stall French Market to the town of Exmouth on June
25th, 26th and 27th.
They came and it was a fanastic weekend. There was
a magnificent cheese lorry with a truly enormous selection
of French cheeses from Normandy and many other regions
of France. Also was the Charcuterie with wonderful
sausages and salamis. Other goodies to eat and drink
included olives, Normandy cider, smoked ham, Pont
l’évèque and Livarot cheeses, Calvados
saucissons, Paté normand, Sweets, Honey, Pure
Butter Homemade biscuits and cakes, duck and goose
products, cheesecakes and, of course, garlic!
For
those with a sweet tooth, wonderful farm made jams
and Homemade Apple and Calvados fondant cakes, as
will the hugely popular crepes stall. For those with
a small space left, the sweet stall was also making
fresh pralines on site.
Don’t
however be fooled into thinking there was only food,
wine and cider. Also displayed for your shopping pleasure
was soap from Marseille, Lavender, Handbags, Wallets,
Wooden Toys, chic French sweaters, Wooden roses, Tablecloths,
French house décor …. and more!
The
market was staged in the Beautiful Manor Gardens,
just behind the Town hall, and the event started at
9.00am and finished by 5.00pm each day, and from 9.30
to 4 pm on the Sunday
