A-La-Ronde, Famous Old House at Exmouth

Two miles from the centre of Exmouth is the National Trust property of A-La-Ronde. This 45 ft high, sixteen sided, Byzantine style, thatched house has twenty rooms set out around a central octagonal hall. A-la-Ronde was built in 1795 by eccentric spinster cousins - Jane and Mary Parminter; both the house and its contents are a result of their Grand Tour of Europe.
The A La Ronde house is especially noteworthy being 16 sided and decorated with seashells. The house is owned by the National Trust and is open between April 1st and October 31st. Admission Charges.
